Summary

The former use of even Nos 86 to 90 is unknown, but it has now been converted to flats. The building itself dates to the 16th century, with 18th century alterations and 20th century renovation. The ground floor is of flint with brick quoins, and 19th and 20th century brick infilling. The first floor is timber-framed with a pantile roof.

1954. Listed Grade II.
Former use unknown now flats. 16th century with 18th-century alterations and 20th-century renovation. Flint ground floor with brick quoins and 19th-century and 20th-centurty red brick infilling. Timber frame at first floor. Pantile roof. Two storeys, jetty at first floor. Seven widely spaced first floor windows. Right-hand off-centre carriage entry. Entry from rear 20th-century extensions. Sash windows throughout with glazing bars and simply moulded surrounds. Overhanging eaves.

This building is amongst those listed in thesis (S2), which considers the 13th- to 17th-century buildings of Norwich. It is described as a two-storeyed building now divided into three properties, timber-framed at first floor level above flint rubble walls with off-centre carriage entry. It is dated to the 16th century.

OS record that house is on 'site of' Heydon family's city house. Sir Christopher Heydon lived here in 1671.

Monitoring of excavation of foundation trench for kitchen extension.
Late medieval to early post medieval made ground at rear of No 5 Raven yard. Flint footings of building observed.
