Full Description
Norfolk Historic Gardens Survey grades two-star as one of only two surviving communal gardens in Norfolk. Site purchased in 1820 by Presbyterians to build a school. North of this in 1821 Mr John Bunn constructed terrace of houses with varying interiors. A covenant stated bricks must be made on site and so the central garden, sunken, is probably the brick pits. Random planting with some mature trees.
See full details in survey.
See also listed building description for the houses, listed in three blocks.
E. Rose (NLA) 21 July 1998.
The early 19th-century houses surrounding this garden were all listed Grade II in 1972. These are now recorded separately as NHERs 48091 (Nos 8 and 8A), 68715 (Nos 1-7) and 68716 (Nos 9-18).
