Summary

Fieldwalking and metal-detecting at this location between 1993 and 2025 recovered prehistoric worked flints; Iron Age, Roman, medieval, medieval/post-medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; a Roman to medieval lava quern fragment; medieval ceramic roof tile fragments; copper alloy casting waste and lead metalworking scraps; Roman and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval token and a range of other, undated and Roman to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include undated copper alloy rings and lead weights; a Roman brooch; a Late Saxon stirrup-strap mount and horse-harness fitting; medieval and post-medieval dress accessories (including a post-medieval silver dress hook); medieval horse-harness pendants, a folding balance arm, thimble, lead weights and lead seal matrix; a medieval/post-medieval bell, copper alloy vessel fragments and copper alloy vessel repairs and post-medieval crotal bells, a book clasp, knife end stop, copper alloy rings, lead weights and tin alloy medal.
