Summary

Metal detecting at this location from 1993-99 recovered a selection of multi period metal objects. The most important of these were an Early Saxon wrist clasp of unusual form and a superb Early Saxon fish-shaped mount from a hanging bowl.

Lovely! Early Saxon wrist clasp. Very unusual. Two pierced lobes for attachment on one side and a loop on the other to receive hook on counter plate; body of wrist clasp consists of a square field at each end, each containing a quatrefoil between a moulded bar.
Wonderful! Early Saxon fish shaped mount from hanging bowl? Key-shaped pattern in cast relief. Head of fish missing. Once enamelled - slightly convex.

Early Saxon wedge-shaped foot of small-long brooch with transverse ribbing and border of stamped double crescents. Catchplate stud on reverse.
