Summary

Fieldwalking and metal detecting along the line of the B1160 re-alignment in 1994 recovered prehistoric worked flints, building materials and sherds of medieval, post medieval, Late Saxon, prehistoric and Middle Saxon pottery. Subsequent topsoil stripping revealed two small possible pits and a concentration of slag near to an area of Iron Age features (see NHER 30568).

Field survey on route of B1160 road re-alignment (except for north part through the former Wereham Tip).
Worked flint, building material.

March 1994. Watching Brief.
B1160 road re-alignment.
Watching brief on topsoil stripping from the road line; site conditions were poor.
Two small possible pits were identified and recorded (unexcavated). A concentration of slag was seen; all near to north end of monitored area.
