Summary

A World War Two spigot mortar emplacement is visible on 1950 RAF aerial photographs. The concrete base of the mortar can still be seen on the ground, in its original pit.

Mortar spigot.
Concrete base with pintle remains in its original pit, 1.2m (4 feet) deep (now silted) which would once have been revetted with corrugated iron.

World War Two spigot mortar emplacement visible on RAF aerial photographs from 1950 (S1). A 2m diameter structure is located at TG 0722 4294. This is surrounded by a 1m wide circular ditch, which has three perpendicular ditches, 2m long, coming off it to the north, east and the south. This appears to be a spigot mortar emplacement, associated with the radar station (NHER 23386).
