Full Description
1960.
Possible moat seen on aerial photograph held by [1].
See (S1).
R. R. Clarke (NCM)
Compare with (S2), which shows a moat like feature amongst drainage channels, but deeper.
13 November 1979. Visited E. Rose (NAU)
Probably a moat, square of fairly deep ditches, the southern side being the river, but the number of drainage ditches around introduce some doubt.
E. Rose (NAU)
23 July 1998. Visited by B. Cushion (NLA)
Confirmed moated enclosure at low level with some lower level embayments into platform.
Probable fish pond to west, with odd broad ridge to east of moat a possible outer boundary.
Possible forerunner of Hall to west.
Earthwork survey to be undertaken late in year.
B. Cushion (NLA) 23 July 1998.
November 1998. Earthwork Survey.
Survey at 1:1000. Burnt flint area found.
See report (S3) for plan and further details. This site was included in (S4) and the survey is also noted in (S5).
