Summary

Slight linear earthworks are visible on aerial photographs. The earthworks have been interpreted as a possible medieval field system or an area of deserted settlement. The brick foundations of buildings of unknown date have been found on the site.

Earthworks revealed on (S1) at 0400 3139.

At 0401 3131 (3230/context 1) brick foundations of buildings.
See (S2).

June 1977.
(S3) show lines continuing as crop and soil marks to south and east, emerging on far side of wood where one appears as white soil mark between two dark lines, another is still in use as ditch though not marked on Ordnance Survey. Medieval field system or deserted medieval village pattern.
Faint possible ring ditch in southwest corner, but doubtful as in a farmyard.

Site partly ploughed - 10 inches, partly set-aside, this cut when necessary.
Slight earthworks noted, not forming any regular pattern.
