Map

Lime kiln. Marked on (S1) by old course of road. This has collapsed leaving only rubble. Information from R.Jones, KLM. E. Rose (NAU), 1 February 1980.

Visited by E. Rose (NAU) with Mr S. French of Sandringham Estates, 4 April 1984.
Earthwork bank about 1.5m high encloses circular area, in centre of which is overgrown conical mound, about 1m high and 1.5m across. In one side of this a small collapse reveals a vaulted brick roof below ground. Details unclear but it may be that the bell is infilled with a mound of chalk and the vaulting in one side of the surrounding tunnel. Much more may therefore remain below ground.
E. Rose (NAU), 5 April 1984.
