Summary

An earthwork mound which is apparently a natural feature.

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Location

Map sheet TF62SE
Civil Parish GRIMSTON, WEST NORFOLK, NORFOLK

Map

1961. In Derby Fen.
Mound noted by J. O. H. Nicholls.
See (S1).

September 1979.
Spot marked on (S2) is exact loaction. Line marked on (S3) as bisecting the site is an old dry ditch cutting the mound, 0.5m wide, overgrown. Mound itself is about 1m high, covered in bushes, irregular and spreading. But there are many other mounds like this in the fen around, and all are apparantly natural. Why Nicholls chose this one out is puzzling.
