Summary

This is the site of the deserted medieval settlement of Little Appleton. Medieval house platforms, hollow ways and ridge and furrow are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and on the ground. The site is shown as a substantial farmstead on an early 17th century estate map, and on an early 18th century map. A Late Bronze Age spearhead has been found on the site during metal detecting. Iron Age, Late Saxon and medieval pottery, as well as medieval tiles have also been found.
