Summary

A late 17th century house, entirely rebuilt in the 18th century. The brick façade has five window bays and is two storeys high with dormer attics and a columned central doorway. Inside is an elaborate 18th-century staircase and balcony rising from the entrance hall, superimposed on 17th-century panelling. The upper stairs are 17th century and the first floor rooms have 18th-century panelling.

Listing Description excerpt:
"House. Late 17th century, entirely rebuilt early 18th centruy. Brick, rendered and colourwashed to street façade. Plain tiled roof. Façade of two storeys and dormer attic in five bays. Centre bay broken forward. Central doorcase comprising a pair of engaged Doric columns supporting a segmental pediment and containing a six-panelled door. Sash windows with glazing bars. Flat plat band at first floor, rusticated quoins close elevation and a central pediment rises over a timber modillion eaves cornice. Tall hipped roof with a gabled dormer to each face except the west. The north return is elongated into a hipped wing with a gabled dormer to its west face. West front of this wing in two bays…
Interior: Front door opens into combined staircase/entrance hall. Open-string early 18th-century staircase rises to balcony return over doorway: carved tread-ends, two vase and turned balusters to each tread and ramped handrail. Turned newels on square section pedestals. Matching dado rail imposed on 17th-century plank and muntin panelling. Upper flights are late 17th century: closed-string, sturdy vases below taper-turned balusters, moulded straight handrail. Stair well at this point and above reveals timber studwork. First floor room to north with large-frame panelling of early 18th-century [date]. Main roof of principals, collars and clasped purlins. Many renewed common rafters."
