Summary

A scatter of Roman, Middle Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery fragments, coins and metal objects were recovered here between 1968 and 2022. A small number of prehistoric worked flints, including a Mesolithic blade core have also been found.

6 medieval/post-medieval vessel fragments and 1 button.
2 post-medieval coins, 1 pottery sherd, 2 buckle frames, 1 lead ?weight, 1 crotal bell, 1 End cap from scale tang knife and 1 pendant leaf from a sword belt hanger.
1 undatable lava quern fragment and 2 lead weights.

1 Mesolithic miniature two-platform flint blade core.
3 late prehistoric flint flakes and 1 late prehistoric hammerstone.
1 Iron Age pottery sherd (reduced with oxidised exterior, profuse flint grit)
1 Roman coin.
3 Roman pottery sherds (2 greyware, 1 oxidised).
2 ?Middle Saxon pottery sherds (1 probably fine sandy Ipswich, 1 grog tempered and reminiscent of Ipswich ware).
3 medieval coins.
8 medieval metal objects including 1 unidentified cast object fragment, 1 sheet repair fragment, 1 incomplete buckle plate (13th-14th century), 1 coin weight, 2 lead pot mends, 1 lead weight and 1 lead spindle whorl.
7 medieval pottery sherds (1 unglazed, 6 glazed Grimston).
14 medieval/post-medieval metal objects including and 1 barrel padlock fragment, 8 cast vessel fragments, 2 incomplete vessel legs, 1 vessel handle, 1 cast ring and 1 lead weight
1 medieval/post-medieval roof tile.
5 sherds of post-medieval pottery including four GRE and 1 Westerwald stoneware.
3 post-medieval coins and 1 post-medieval token.
14 post-medieval metal objects including 1 incomplete spoon (17th-18th century), 1 knife end-stop (15th-16th century), 2 buckle frames (both c. 1550-1650 AD), 1 sheet chape, 1 stopper-like ?stud (possibly from harness or furniture) 3 lead window came fragments, 1 lead shot with casting jet, 3 lead weights and 2 lead ?weights.
3 undated lead weights.
25 undated casting/metalworking molten scraps.
