NHER 38213 (Monument record) - Undated post cluster on Holme Beach, possibly part of a trackway

Summary

During a 2003 walkover survey a cluster of six posts was discovered and erosion since has revealed more posts. The cluster is probably related to a cluster of Bronze Age posts to the north (NHER 38212). Together they may be part of a trackway.

February to March 2003. NAU survey.
One of two discrete clusters of posts (the other is NHER 38212). This, the southern cluster, consists of six posts. It is not clear whether the two groups were one monument or two.

September 2003. Site visit.
Area of monument located using Global Positioning Satellite. Area covered in sand, seaweed and patches of mussels. Unable to locate any posts within 10m to 15m radius.

February 2004. Monitoring.
Area of monument located using Global Positioning Satellite – area covered in sand, seaweed and patches of mussels
Unable to locate any posts and had to leave area as tide coming in - this meant that no samples were taken for radiocarbon dating.
This cluster may be part of a trackway, along with a cluster of Bronze Age posts to the north (NHER 38212).
