1958. Church Plain site of Gallon Pot Inn.Excavations for the foundations o a new building to replace a destroyed predecessor revealed a well with a paved bottom some 6m (20f) deep. Its base lay some 1.5m (5ft) below OD, so it may be dated to roughly the first half of 15th century. No pottery was found in the well. Copy of (S1) in file.
