Summary

An area of burnt flints was discovered here in 1942. Metal-detecting in 1985 and 2012 recovered five worked flints; Late Iron Age, medieval and medieval/post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins and Roman, Early Saxon and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include Roman brooches and a figurine of a bird; an Early Saxon bow brooch; a Late Saxon/medieval padlock key; medieval buckles, strap-ends and strap fittings; a medieval/post-medieval fragmentary tailor's thimble or sewing ring and a post-medieval button, Jew's harp, sheet buckle plate, harness mount and a lead powder holder cover, flask cap or measure.

Roman bronze brooch; Colchester derivative. String transverse ribs on side wings. Edge grooves down bow. Mid to late 1st century AD. Also five flint flakes.
