D. Edwards (NAU), 18 March 1981. Amended H. Hamilton (HES), 15 July 2019.
May 2005. Norfolk NMP.
The ring ditch described below was previously recorded as NHER 12166.
A ring ditch is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S3), centred at TG 4948 1629. It is probably the site of a Bronze Age round barrow. A large, dispersed barrow cemetery has been identified to its west (NHER 27342), together with a smaller cemetery 160m to its south (NHER 27350). The ring ditch is surrounded, and to some extent respected by, the cropmarks of a multi-period field system (NHER 27259), part of which (NHER 27340) is likely to date to the post Roman period.
The ring ditch is only partially visible but appears to be roughly circular in plan. It measures 17.5m in diameter. A centrally placed, internal pit may mark the site of an associated burial.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 26 May 2005.
