Summary

A Bronze Age axehead and pottery, and Iron Age pottery have been found at this site. Roman pottery, coins, brooches and other metalwork, as well as the discovery of fragments of hypocaust, tesserae and other building materials strongly suggest that this is the site of a Roman villa, perhaps associated with an undated earthwork bank nearby. Saxon and medieval pottery has also been found.
