1881. Found in sinking shafts on site of railway station. Hoard of six bronze torcs.
One in NCM 27.20 ex Plowright Collection; another sold at Fenton's 1906 for 10 pounds (see (S1)) See file.
(S2) mention of presentation to NCM, (S3), (S4). Card by R. R. Clarke (NCM).
Material and references checked by A. J. Lawson and E. Rose (NAU), 1981 to 3.
(S5) does not mention the torcs, but states that the site of the station was dug out to a depth of 3.7m (12 feet) because of unstable peat.
