Summary

A Bronze Age copper alloy rapier was found by a farmer when he was digging postholes. The object may have been found in 1882. The nature and location of this discovery are unclear.

Found around 1910 at Methwold Hythe by farmer digging a posthole on margin of fens.
Bronze rapier 40cm (16.25 inches) long uncommon form with stout heavy, almost parallel sided blade and narrow square ended butt like a rudimentary tang: two pairs of notches one pair shallow and the other deeper at base of blade (thickening). (S1) shows a same shape but smaller and lighter, simply a knife.
