Summary

During the 20th century a number of prehistoric objects were recovered in this field, including a Mesolithic or later perforated quartzite macehead; a possible Mesolithic flint microlith; Early Neolithic leaf-shaped arrowheads and laurel leaves; Neolithic or later flint arrowheads, polished axeheads and other implements and Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age flint barbed and tanged arrowheads and plano-convex knives.

23 March 1944. Stray Find.
Found by R. F. Parrot in field opposite Heath Farm (old O.S field 124):
1 prehistoric perforated quartzite macehead (finder's Coll. No. 385B). Measuring 6 inches [15 cm] x 5 inches [12.5cm] and weighing 2 pounds 14 ounces [1.3kg]. Some details taken from notebook left by Parrott.

Although initially recorded as Neolithic these objects are generally seen as not closely datable, having been found in both Mesolithic and later prehistoric contexts.

Pre 1961. Stray Find.
The Parrott Collection includes a number of prehistoric objects that are recorded as having been found in the "field opposite [Heath] farm", which is believed to be a reference to this location. The Parrott Collection was previously on loan to the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1961.142) but is now housed at Weeting Primary School.

Finds with this provenance include 1 Mesolithic flint ?microlith fragment (Coll. No. 79c) that is described in (S3). A number of later prehistoric worked flints are listed in (S2), including:
3 Early Neolithic leaf-shaped arrowheads (1 tanged) and 2 laurel leaves.
1 Neolithic (or later?) tranverse petit tranchet derivative arrowhead, 4 oblique petit tranchet derivative arrowheads, 2 triangular arrowheads, 1 projectile head, 1 long-pointed piercer (borer) and 2 polished flint axes (fragmentary).
14 Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age barbed and tanged arrowheads, 1 tanged arrowhead and 2 plano-convex knives.
