Summary

1962 a prehistoric perforated pebble macehead was found near the road from Feltwell to Methwold Hythe. These objects are not closely datable, having been found in both Mesolithic and later prehistoric contexts.

1962. Stray Find.
From field around 100 yards [91m] west of main road Feltwell to Methwold Hythe and second field north of Tennis Drove:
1 prehistoric quartzite pebble macehead. 2 3/8 inches [6cm] x 2 5/8 inches [6.5cm] with biconical perforation. See drawing (S1).

These objects are not closely datable, having been found in both Mesolithic and later prehistoric contexts.

Probably the same object as a quartzite pebble macehead now in collection of [1] (Coll. No. 15) and labelled "Left hand side of Hythe road 273m (300 yards) north of tennis" - assuming latter equals Tennis Drove.
