Summary

This is the site of a Late Saxon to medieval settlement revealed during a fieldwalking survey. The settlement was probably part of the original core of the village of Bodney, and may have had its origins in the Middle Saxon period. Prehistoric flints, an Early Saxon iron spearhead and fragments of pottery dating from the Roman to the post-medieval periods have been found on the site. Fragments of fired clay daub from a building of unknown date have also been found. Metal-detecting in 2015 recovered a Roman pottery sherd as well as medieval coins.
