Summary

The foundations of a possible medieval to post medieval building were recorded in 1964. 14th to 18th century pottery was found. A Neolithic flint knife and Beaker period, Bronze Age, Roman and post medieval pottery fragments have also been recovered. Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey identified a concentration of Iron Age pottery fragments.

Flint ovate knife (Neolithic) found.

Pre 1974. 'Field 15'. Context 3 centred TL 695 899.
Scatter of pottery 14th to 17th/18th century. (S1) notes these were found 'with Beaker, Bronze Age, and Roman.'

1964? About 759m (830 yards) northeast of Whitedyke Farm. Context 2 at 6960 8981.
Where foundations of buildings found. Sherds mostly post medieval also found. Sherds of other periods: Bronze Age to post medieval. (S1) has Beaker, Iron Age, medieval. Not possible to make certain identification. Material not checked. NCM 201.965.

19 April 1988. Fenland fieldwalking over whole field, weathered soil, beans.
Context 1
General scatter odd flints and medieval pottery. FWL FK. Chalk soils all above peat line. Also some Roman sherds.
Context 4 at 6961 8997.
Concentration Iron Age pottery 39m northeast to southwest x 22m northwest to southeast at 4m OD. Side and top of ridge of chalk, but above fen level. Few fragments of bone and occasional burnt pebbles, but these were few. FWL 201.
