A drainage mill, dating from the later 19th century, with original machinery intact. The mill has the unusual feature of two scoopwheels.

Full Description

Drainage mill. Brick tower, exterior of cap gone but machinery and frame survive, and central posts of sails.

1970. Norfolk Industrial Archaeology Society survey.
Wooden main shaft, traces of 2 scoop wheels, two speed gears.

Confirmed by J. Lawn, Millwright, who is restoring mill 1984-1985.

May 1987. Listed, Grade II*.
1986, dates to 1880, boat cap now weatherboarded, with fantail and machinery. All machinery survives including cast iron windshaft, crown wheel and pit wheel; latter drives two external scoop wheels through gearing allowing both high and low ratios, these features are unique. Sails under restoration.
