Summary

Two Neolithic leaf arrowheads and probable modern polished stone axehead were found. Aerial photographs of the site show cropmarks of an undated trackway. Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered prehistoric burnt and worked flints.

Context 2 at approx 692 902.
Stone axe. Polished, concave sides imitating metal types. But Dr. Longworth (BM) said made by pecking and grinding, though coarse grained rock. Probably modern.

23 December 1985. Fieldwalking in moderate conditions.
Deep ploughed and vegetation turned in giving messy conditions for observation.

More general scatter - odd flints FWL DW.

Context 3 at 6925 9034.
Small concentration of flints, about 15m x13m but insufficient to classify as site. On edge chalky loam ridge FWL DV.

Context 4 at 6926 9020.
Concentration of pot boilers, sparse and occasional flint. On side of chalky loam ridge 33m x 21m FWL 146.

Context 5 at 6923 9037.
Concentration of pot boilers, sparse to moderate, plus odd flint but very few. On flattish chalky loam ridge. 28m x 25m at 1m OD. FWL 147.
