Full Description
1946? Cropmark on RAF vertical aerial photographs suggests possible masonry castle site.
[1] has no placename evidence to support.
(S1) by R.R. Clarke (NCM).
Field under pasture. No surface evidence.
Information by A.K. Gregory (NAU).
E. Rose (NAU) 26 February 1981.
Copy of aerial photograph in Unit files.
Shows white circle as of massive ploughed out bank, possible inner ditch (but no outer) and central feature presumably thought to be a keep by R.R. Clarke (NCM). However the feature is similar to natural features nearby; yet it seems significant that the south field boundary bends round it.
E. Rose (NAU) 2 March 1981.
