1870. Stray Find.
Found by J. Wyatt "…in a gravel pit near Lynn":
2 Palaeolithic flint handaxes.
This discovery is noted in (S1), in which the handaxes are described as "...an oval flint implement, well formed and deeply stained, and another of rude workmanship". Information from (S2).
These finds are listed in (S3) and also noted in on (S4) and in (S5), (S6) and (S7), although no additional information is given.
The exact provenance of these items is unclear, although Wymer (S5) suggests that they may well have come from South Wootton, an area which is known to have produced a range of other Palaeolithic objects.
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 26 November 2013.
