Summary

Fieldwalking and metal-detecting in this area between 1987 and 2007 has recovered a range of objects including prehistoric worked flints; Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; medieval coins and various other metal objects. These metal finds include an Early Saxon wrist clasp; a Late Saxon bridle cheek-piece; a medieval buckle and lead spindle whorl; a medieval/post-medieval thimble and lead weight; a post-medieval buckle, key and lead cauldron leg and an undatable lump of casting waste.

Spring 1987. Stray Find.
Scattered finds along cliff edge, on ploughed field, north of Happisburgh church (area centred [1]; Context 1):
6 prehistoric struck flint flakes.
28 medieval pottery sherds (25 medieval unglazed, 1 late medieval and 2 Langerwehe stoneware). Marked absence of Thetford or anything similar.
3 post-medieval pottery sherds (Glazed Red Earthenware).

1 Early Saxon odd wrist clasp with gilding, secondary pierced hole, very worn. See polaroid (S2).
Post medieval lead cauldron leg.
