Full Description
It is recorded in (S1) that the Sedgewick Museum (Cambridge) hold a Palaeolithic retouched flint flake/flake implement that was recovered at Long Plantation, Weeting. Information from (S2).
This find is also noted on (S3) and in (S4), although little additional information is given.
E. Rose (NAU). Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 17 May 2013.
It is assumed that this was probably a late 19th-century or early-20th century discovery. The mapped extent of this record therefore reflects the extent of the Long Plantation as it is shown on the 1st Edition O.S map. It should however be noted that this object may have been recovered from near to, rather than within the plantation (perhaps in one of the pits marked in the field to the south).
P. Watkins (HES), 17 May 2013.
