Full Description
Various prehistoric worked flints known to have been recovered during the late 19th century or early 20th century in Croxton parish, but with little additional information regarding provenance. Most were donated to what is now the Cambridge University Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.
FINDS IN THE CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY MUSEUM OF ARCHAEOLOGY AND ANTHROPOLOGY
1908-1909. ?Stray Find.
Three large adzes found in about 1908-9 (S2).
Also a pick and a knife (S1).
Information from (S3).
One of the adzes is probably the Mesolithic tranchet axe from Croxton listed in (S4) as being held by the CUMAA. This object was donated by F. Snare and is described in (S5).

1) Tanged and barbed arrowhead found about 1904-5 (S6).
2) Tanged arrowhead, roughly chipped, thick, 'spade-shaped' with taper tang (2.8cm by 22.8cm or1.1 inches x .9 inches) found about 1908 (S7).

Fifteen leaf shaped arrowheads found in about 1905-6.
Lozenge shaped arrowhead with rounded shoulders found in 1911.

FINDS IN OTHER MUSEUMS
According to (S9), the Birmingham City Museum holds a heavily patinated later prehistoric flint bifacial knife from an unrecorded location in Croxton (1991A208). This object is marked "2.4.02".
The Thetford museum holds several worked flints from Croxton:
- 1 Mesolithic axehead. Ex H. Dixon Hewitt, found 1931 (THEHM : 1975.297). Described by R. Jacobi (S5) as a "bit dubious" tranchet axe.
- 1 Neolithic fragmentary polished axehead. Ex H. Dixon Hewitt, found 1931 (THEHM : 1975.306).
- 1 prehistoric retouched flake. Ex J. Spinks, donated 1924 (THEHM : 1979.148).

Croxton is listed in (S10) as one of the locations where "Sandy Site Type" Neolithic worked flints had been recovered prior to 1907. W. G. Clarke and T. F. Newton are listed as finders.
