A World War Two pillbox is visible on aerial photographs (S1). A pillbox with a hexagonal plan, probably a type 22, was located on the east bank of the River Great Ouse at Stowbridge at TF 6033 0705. It was positioned to protect the river crossing and was supported by a second pillbox to the south (NHER 51402), anti tank blocks (NHER 32375, 51404), a spigot mortar emplacement (NHER 35921) and a possible weapons pit (NHER 35922). This pillbox has been demolished.
