Summary

Dredging here in 1960 uncovered a causeway of flint approximately 9.8m (32ft) wide, marked on the west side of the river by two mounds on the edge of the causeway.

August 1960. After dredging.
Causeway of flint seen. Approximately 9.8m (32ft) wide, marked on west side of river by two mounds at edges of causeway.

August 2014. Field visit.
No mounds were seen on the western side of river. It seems likely they have been covered over by the dredgings placed on the western bank since 1960.
