Full Description
Ring ditch visible on Google Earth in early 2008 - photograph taken July 2006.
A. Rogerson (NLA), 21 October 2008.
See also NHER 51853, another possible ring ditch nearby.

June 2011. Norfolk NMP.
NMP mapping has altered the central grid reference of the site from TG 11271 03034 to TG 1125 0301.
The ring ditch described above is visible as a cropmark on Google Earth aerial images from 2006, including (S1). It probably marks the site of a Bronze Age round barrow. Although it appears on the photographs as a negative mark, potentially representing a positive feature such as a bank, it is more likely to be a ditch feature, perhaps backfilled with solid material from a former mound. The same process may have resulted in the negative cropmarks along the line of a Roman road 180m to the northeast (NHER 19725). Nevertheless, the contrast between the way this ring ditch is showing and the appearance of other cut features in the area (the ring ditch NHER 51853 to the north, unmapped post medieval field boundaries) is worthy of note and does mean that the interpretation of the site should be treated with a degree of caution.
The ring ditch is broadly circular in plan and measures approximately 18m in diameter.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 23 June 2011.
September-October 2010. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of proposed development area (Field 1).
This survey identified no evidence for surviving sub-surface remains associated with this cropmark ring-ditch. This is somewhat surprising as the ring-ditch to the north (NHER 51853) was found to coincide with a reasonably distinct sub-circular anomaly.
See report (S2) and NHER 55987 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 10 February 2021.
