Summary

The cropmarks of at least six ring ditches and several linear cropmarks are visible on aerial photographs. The ring ditches are probably the remains of a Bronze Age barrow cemetery, the linear cropmarks may be related but could be field boundaries.

1976.
In two fields next to the railway on east side north and south of lane as marked on OS (field boundaries have changed but old limits are visible as cropmarks).
Several linear cropmarks, probably old field boundaries, and in field north of lane 1 ring ditch, 2 more superimposed, and possible remains of others visible on (S1).

September 1978. Pipe trench cut along west side of field.
Revealed very shallow ditches on line of cropmarks but no dating evidence.

March 2011. Study of aerial photographs of the northernmost field show that a number of ring ditches are present. Most notably on TG2124/C/AFK8 (1976). Appears to be the remains of a plough damaged barrow cemetery.

January 2022. Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The ring ditches have now been recorded separately as NHER 64297,64298,64299,64300,64301 and 65302.The linear features have been recorded as part of NHER 64307 and NHER 64309 along with further features identified as part of the Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
