Full Description
Previously recorded under NHER 11585.
1976.
In two fields next to the railway on east side north and south of lane as marked on OS (field boundaries have changed but old limits are visible as cropmarks).
Several linear cropmarks, probably old field boundaries, and in field north of lane 1 ring ditch, 2 more superimposed, and possible remains of others visible on (S1).
September 1978. Pipe trench cut along west side of field.
Revealed very shallow ditches on line of cropmarks but no dating evidence.
See (S2).
March 2011. Study of aerial photographs of the northernmost field show that a number of ring ditches are present. Most notably on TG2124/C/AFK8 (1976). Appears to be the remains of a plough damaged barrow cemetery.
K. Powell (HES), 18 March 2011.
January 2022. Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
