Summary

An 18th century public house, possibly with a 17th century timber framed core, encased with flint and brick in the 19th century. The building is two storeys high with a pantiled roof. There is a 20th century porch in the centre. The adjacent Old House is a timber framed thatched building from the mid 17th century, with a brick infill and later alterations.

Pub has plain 18th century façade but gable shape suggests earlier frame.
Cottage is thatched with high pitched roof, one gable overhanging at top.
Tiled extension to Red Lion has brick gable wall with chimney much higher than present roof. Daub walls. Cottage is
in very bad condition.

(S1) gives Red Lion as ?late 17th century core encased in early 19th century. Thatched Cottage given as early 16th century hall house with intact timber frame on brick plinth; hall to east with floor inserted in 17th century; one tie beam remains in bedroom but roof an early 19th century replacement.
