Summary

In 1965 an undated chalk floor was observed in foundation trenches for new bungalows and a number of Neolithic pottery sherds were recovered from the building site. The pottery fragments were identified as Rinyo-Clacton sherds.

1965. Casual Observations.
Observations were made while digging foundations for a new bungalow located about 229m (250yds) south of Red Castle (NHER 5746). Several Rinyo - Clacton sherds were found in a dark soil patch (which was in shingle) in the foundation trenches for Bungalow 5. Bungalow 4, to the east of this, revealed a chalk platform in the sides of foundation trenches. See original sketch maps (S2).
