Summary

In 1965 a large quantity of pottery was recovered while digging foundations for a new bungalow. The majority of the pottery was identified as Late Saxon Thetford Ware sherds, but the assemblage also included green glazed medieval ware. An undated building foundation may also have been visible in the 1965 foundation trenches.

1965. Casual Find.
A large quantity of pottery sherds were recovered while digging foundations for a new bungalow located about 91m (100yds) down the Icknield Way from London Road. The assemblage consisted primarily of Thetford ware, but also included green-glazed ware. A plan (S1) indicates the location of the find and also suggests the presence of a possible foundation.
