Various post-Roman objects known to have been recovered in the Snarehill/Rushford area of what is now Brettenham parish during the 19th and 20th centuries but with no additional information regarding provenance.

Pre 1848. Stray Find.
Found "…near the old priory at Rushford, near Thetford":
Medieval "…circular merchant's mark of the sixteenth century, with the letters R W and I B…".

P. Watkins (HES), 31 August 2020.

Pre December 1924. Stray Find.
From Snarehill, Rushford:
4 Fragments of Late Saxon pottery.
Donated to Thetford Museum (THEHM : 1978.416; A.2219-2221).
Information from (S2).
The museum's records note that the location of this discovery was "probably below Hall and river".
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 6 November 2015.

Unknown date. Metal-detecting.
Found "300 yards l.side Diss Rd, beyond Rushford, opp stables":
1 post-medieval pewter brooch.
Seen and identified by Thetford museum staff. Information from (S3).
It is recorded that drawings were made (or received) by the NCM, although the location of these is currently unknown.
Assuming the "Diss Road" is the A1066 the provenance given for this object suggests that it may have been found in the vicinity of Shadwell Park, particularly if "the stables" is a reference to Melton Paddocks.
P. Watkins (HES), 6 November 2015.
