Map

The bridge spans the River Yare linking the two sides of Great Yarmouth. It is constructed from cast iron supported by stone bascules with cast iron railings. It was opened in 1930. Originally the bridge was lit by 1kW tungsten general-lighting-service lamps, replaced in 1970 by triple clustered Phosco lanterns with 150W high pressure sodium lamps.
The bridge is a point of high strategic value and was protected heavily during the Second World War (see NHER 27365).
