Summary

The cropmarks of a probable Bronze Age ring ditch are seen on aerial photographs. The ring ditch most likely relates to the site of a Bronze Age round barrow. This feature, along with further ring ditches located in close proximity, may be part of a dispersed Bronze Age barrow cemetery (NHER 56267).

Full Description

ORIGINALLY RECORDED UNDER 11666 AND 52544.
This record is for the western ring ditch. The eastern ring ditch is now recorded separately as part of NHER 65627.

November 2011.
Crop marks of two adjacent ring ditches are visible on aerial photographs from 1976 (S1 and S2), 1996 (S3 to S10) and 2006 (S11). Other ring ditches are located nearby indicating this may be part of a dispersed Bronze Age barrow cemetery (NHER 56267).

The cropmarks of a probable Bronze Age ring ditch (see above) are seen on aerial photographs (S1-S12). The ring ditch most likely relates to the site of a Bronze Age round barrow. The ring ditch appears to be crossed by a later field boundary (NHER 52544). This ring ditch, along with further ring ditches located in proximity, may be part of a dispersed Bronze Age barrow cemetery (NHER 56267). The second ring ditch previously recorded as part of this record has now been recorded separately as part of NHER 65627.
