Map

April 2012.
Kitchen garden originally belonging to Stow Hall (NHER 2430; now demolished). An historical source suggests the original Stow Hall built in 1589 may have stood on the site of the kitchen garden. Bricks and foundations were found in the area in recent years. The east wall of the the garden predates the remaining walls which are 19th century; it is not possible to date the wall but it has been suggested that it may have been part of the walled enclosure abutting the 1589 house.

Documents from 1692 and 1712 detail the gardener's duties in the kitchen garden and required plants. The garden is shown in its current form on an 1812 estate map and (S2). Information from (S1).
