A dispersed group of finds, including pottery and coins, cremations, burials and archaeological features of Roman date, have been recorded in this area, possibly indicating a settlement of this period. The area is located around the point where the projected line of the Roman road (NHER 7598) leading south from Brampton Roman town (NHER 1124) would meet the River Yare and includes the site of a possible wharf (NHER 514).
