Summary

Low banks noted in 1935, together with the discovery of a few fragments of medieval pottery, may possibly indicate this to be the site of a medieval house. The site is hard to locate today. Metal-detecting in 2012 recovered a single medieval coin.

June 1935. Field Observation.
Banks initially observered by sunset.
Subsequent observation noted a natural sandy eminence with two parallel north to south low banks.
A few sherds of grey unglazed medieval pottery were recovered from rabbit scrapings.
Noted as a the possible site of a medieval house.
Location sketched on NCM map (S2).

March 1977. Field Observation.
Site now difficult to locate. Field under pasture. Possible traces of a bank on the eastern hill.
Clarke's drawing on NCM old six inch map (S2) is exaggerated as it covers two large hills with a valley between. The banks are drawn as having bulges towards their south ends.

Air photographs studied as part of NLA Earthwork Survey 1993.
No signs of earthworks in this location on vertical air photographs taken as part of NCC/BKS survey 1988.
