Summary

The majority of this church dates to the 13th/14th centuries, designed in the Decorated style. However, the heavy west tower is in Early English style and the windows in the south range date to the 15th century. The church underwent restorations in 1854 and 1886, at which point much of the window tracery was replaced. The sedilia and pisicina in the chancel are rather ponderous and date to the 14th century, but the contemporary font is altogether a much finer piece. Visitors should also note the pleasing portrayal of worshippers through the ages produced by H. J. Stammers of York in 1959.
