Full Description
November 1972. Listed. Grade II.
Boundary walls of Library grounds, west and south, and of former Burial Ground (see NHER 37501).
The west wall of the library grounds is constructed of red brick and likely dates to the 18th century. The overall height is approximately six feet. It has buttress piers flush with the plinth and part of its length features a rounded cope.
The south wall is constructed of carstone and likely dates to the 17th century. It is partially comprised of the walls of the former burial bound associated with the former Friend's Meeting House (NHER 37501). The overall height is approximately six feet, but it has been somewhat lowered at the corner with a flat stone cope. This wall is continuous with NHER 47140.
