Summary

These boundary walls mark the edge of the library grounds and include the west and south walls of the former burial ground of the Friend's Meeting House (NHER 37501). The west wall is of red brick and likely dates to the 18th century while the south wall is of carstone and likely dates to the 17th century. These boundary walls were Listed Grade II in 1972. The south wall is continuous with NHER 47140.

Boundary walls of Library grounds, west and south, and of former Burial Ground (see NHER 37501).
The west wall of the library grounds is constructed of red brick and likely dates to the 18th century. The overall height is approximately six feet. It has buttress piers flush with the plinth and part of its length features a rounded cope.
The south wall is constructed of carstone and likely dates to the 17th century. It is partially comprised of the walls of the former burial bound associated with the former Friend's Meeting House (NHER 37501). The overall height is approximately six feet, but it has been somewhat lowered at the corner with a flat stone cope. This wall is continuous with NHER 47140.
