Summary

This two-storey, timber-framed building was probably constructed in the 16th-century and served as the kitchen and refectory for the College of the Clergy. The ground floor of the building has been plastered over, the end walls are brick and flint, and it has a steep pantile roof with coped gable ends. A later date stone "IEM 1727" is situated above the doorway.

Listing Description Excerpt:
"C16/17, timber-framed, plastered ground floor, close studding to 1st floor. Steep pantile roof with coped gable ends. Brick and flint end walls; 2 storeys. First floor 3, 2 and 3-light C19 casements, centre window 2 lights blocked. Ground floor 3 modern metal-frame casements. Central modern oak door."

30 April 1980. Visit. House (unnumbered) west side Knight Street. The College.
Kitchen and refectory at The College of Clergy.
Timber framed, two storeyed but taller than most houses in the town. No jetty; ground floor plastered over. Three upper windows occupy original spaces. Above doorway inscription IEM 1727, marriage stone? Basically 16th century.
