Cropmarks of a rectilinear enclosure complex and field system of probable Iron Age to Roman date are visible on aerial photographs (S1-3). These cropmarks had previously been amalgamated into NHER 7017 (context 7), but have now been reinstated to their original NHER number. The main area of these cropmarks is centred on TG 3240 3136. A rectilinear enclosure complex is located at this grid reference, focussed on a possible southwest to northeast aligned trackway. One of the two enclosures on the northwest side of the trackway is complete and measures 30m by 35m. Breaks in the ditch, representing possible entrances are present in the southwest and southeast sides and the northern corner. The adjacent enclosure is only partially visible and is 32m wide by at least 34m long. This enclosure has a possible entrance on its southeast side where the perimeter ditch turns inwards. A third incomplete enclosure with possible subdivisions, present on the southeast side of the trackway, measures up to 80m by 45m. These enclosures appear to have been part of a larger coaxial field system on the same overall alignment. The field system extends for at least 415m form northwest to southeast and 385m across from the southwest to northeast. The intermittent visibility of the cropmarks makes it difficult to determine the size of the individual fields from the fragmentary ditches that are present. However, some of the fields in the southeastern part appear to be between 13m and 30m wide. One of the northwest to southeast ditches of the field system appears to cut across the trackway at TG 3240 3136, suggesting that the ditches may represent more than one phase of activity. These enclosures and field system are likely to be a continuation of the coaxial field system recorded 250m to the northwest (NHER 39032 and are probably of the same Iron Age to Roman date. Unrelated ditches of other periods cut across the field system at TG 3241 3133, TG 3244 3114 and TG 3252 3142. Further unrelated ditches are recorded within NHER 39039, 39040, 39041, 27237.
