Full Description
OS field 172.
1964.
Ash and darkened soil were seen in a restricted area after it had been deep ploughed. Pottery sherds were collected from the surface. Topsoil removal revealed possible pit around 1.3m in diameter with heavy ash content and containing Middle or Late Bronze Age pottery sherds. This feature was thought to be a possible hearth. In the same year a fragment of a Late Bronze Age copper alloy blade was found on the ploughed surface. It is thought to be of late Ewart Park type, and date to the 8th century BC.
