Summary

An area of small earthwork pits and possible mounds of an unknown date are seen as earthworks on visualised lidar data. The pits are irregular in shape with a small mounds located at TL 7731 9401 and at TL 7740 9401 to the east of the main cluster of pits. It is possible these features may relate to extraction pits seen on the Second Edition Ordnance Survey map. Furthermore it is possible the features may relate to military activity as the pits are in close proximity to Cranwich Military camp to the north and may also possibly relate to modern forestry features. The pits are most likely post medieval to modern in date and they are similar to further possible pits to the south (NHER 63266).
